A solemn parade was held today in Banja Luka to mark the Day of the Republic of Srpska.
The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović said that the goal of marking the Day of the Republic was to show desire to live in freedom and love for Srpska.
The President Cvijanović said that this year’s Day of the Republic is celebrated under the slogan “For All Times”, which says that the goal of Srpska is to last and to be a permanent framework for our lives.
“To be strong, to build and develop it, because it has not been made to last only a certain period. Srpska is all our people gathered around it. We have a great love for the people of Srpska and we must preserve that capital, resisting all challenges together. This is a day when we celebrate freedom we enjoy because some people gave their lives and body parts for us to live in peace”, said the President of Srpska.
The President of the Republic of Srpska congratulated the Day of the Republic to everyone which shows togetherness and strength of Srpska which is not an impediment to anyone, and added “We love Srpska and our birthday!”, “Long live the Republic of Srpska!”.
The President Cvijanović highlighted that Srpska wishes no one any harm by marking its day and added that people in the Republic knew about the times when freedom was not there, times when it was acquired and conquered.
“I am proud because every year we are increasingly able to show what we know and how important it is to function well. Twenty-eight years of Srpska’s existence is a significant period and it means that we have passed through many temptations. We endured even when others predicted that we would disappear, die or be erased. We endured because we love, we live, we work and act in the interest of Srpska”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic said she did not intend to spoil the Day of the Republic by responding to the statements by those who challenged it, expressing hope that the people and institutions of Srpska, assembled as they are today, would continue to celebrate January 9 and make every effort to keep the Republic in progress each year ahead. “Srpska is open to everyone who lives here and we intend to move safely into the future”, it was said by the President of the Republic.
