The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, visited today in Trebinje the Academy of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Production and Management.
The Republic of Srpska President praised the way the Faculty of Production and Management and the Academy of Fine Arts are organised and pointed out her great satisfaction with the fact that, in addition to good co-operation with the relevant ministry, these organisations also established good co-operation with local institutions.
President Cvijanović underlined that these are institutions with a long tradition, and that they have rightly received the highest recognition from the local government, given their importance for the development of the local community.
The President of the Republic added that it is important for the university community to live this way, and added that it provides for additional dynamics to the city’s efforts to enhance tourism, the economy and improve in any other way.
“I am especially pleased with the co-operation that exists with the local authorities and the fact that local authorities have conceived different types of support for all categories of society, including students, thus showing special care for their inhabitants,” stated President Cvijanović.
The President of Srpska noted that the Republic of Srpska takes great care and helps with the establishment of faculties where there are capacities and possibilities, and emphasised that education and training of people is the key to further development.
“Any local community working in that direction has a future, and the Republic and republic’s bodies are here to help. Every good initiative coming from Trebinje, and from any other city or municipality for that matter, will enjoy the full support of the republic’s institutions,” said President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republika Srpska underlined that she is also happy with the fact that there are plans for the future, that things are viewed in the long term, since this is important for every local community.
“I want to see the things happening in Trebinje be stimulating for some of our, let me say, more dormant communities, that should learn something from this example. I am glad that I had the opportunity to see in previous years that some initiatives launched and created here, such as some support programmes for different categories of population, were literally copied by some other local communities in the Republic of Srpska,” underlined President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic reiterated that education and training, as well as an adequate education process in primary and secondary schools, as well as in pre-school, are indispensable in order to achieve development.
“Higher education also has this development function,” said President Cvijanović.
The Dean of the Fine Arts Academy in Trebinje, Veselin Brković, presented the President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, with a replica of the title page of the book Služabnik goraždanski, which was printed in Goražde in 1519.
