The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, received today the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to BiH, Lucie Gagne, in an inaugural visit.
Interlocutors discussed the current activities and priorities of UNHCR in BiH, and assessed that this agency, in the field of international protection and care for refugees, is an important partner of the domestic institutions at all levels of government.
The importance of further strengthening co-operation and the implementation of joint projects such as the Regional Housing Program for Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons was emphasised at the meeting, thanks to which many families belonging to these categories in the Republic of Srpska were provided with new housing units.
At the occasion, President Cvijanović welcomed the newly appointed representative of UNHCR, and expressed her belief that the co-operation of this United Nations agency with the institutions of the Republic of Srpska will be as successful as before.
