The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, today opened in Banja Luka the International Swimming Rally “Banja Luka Open 2021”, in which more than 470 competitors from seven countries are participating.
President Cvijanović thanked all who came to the competition in Banja Luka, which is being held at the City Olympic Pool.
“Sports did not disappear in times of the coronavirus, nor did disappear our desire for sports,” said the President of the Republic.
The President of the Republic of Srpska expressed her satisfaction with the fact that a large number of competitors came to attend the event despite the fact that communication is difficult due to the pandemic and the travel regime has not been liberalised yet.
“Congratulations to all, and I wish you to achieve the best possible result and hope to see you also next year. I wish also to congratulate the organisers for an event that brought us all together and showed that sports, swimming, Banja Luka and the Republic of Srpska are alive,” noted the President of the Republic.
The President of Srpska said that it is worth investing in sports and that it is the obligation of local and republic authorities.
“No matter how much you invest, it is not enough. We are a small community and of course it is difficult in such a small population to produce both good artists and good athletes, but we can be proud of what we have when it comes to sports, culture and other areas,” stated the President.
The President of the Republic pointed out that Srpska must cherish what she has.
“It is our obligation to pay attention to every important event that can produce a future champion,” concluded the President of the Republic of Srpska.
