The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, opened today in the municipality of Pelagićevo the “Culinary Encounters” Manifestation, traditionally held as part of the “Ilindan Festivities” [St. Elias Day] organised by this municipality.

The President of the Republic stated that the Republic of Srpska needs her people to assemble, unite and work together to resist the political, economic and financial challenges and often, the political refute.

“We are all aware of the different challenges, political, economic, financial, and often the political negation of the Republic of Srpska; and in order to resist them all, we need what we can see here today, to come together, we need unity, determination to work for the Republic of Srpska, to love and protect her and try and succeed every year in making at least one step forward,” noted President Cvijanović.

The President of Srpska said that the promotion in any possible way of the Republic of Srpska is important, including this type of festivals.

“Each of our reunions shows that we know why we do it, that we are people of good will and that we appreciate when we are together and gathered around our common goals,” added the President of the Republic of Srpska.

The President of the Republic assessed that this culinary festival has outgrown its local significance and that it brings together people from all parts of the Republic of Srpska to socialise, gather, show their specialties, promote their respective regions, as well as to promote Srpska altogether.

“For many years now, the Government of the Republic of Srpska and the Cabinet of the President of the Republic have been helping all our municipalities from the whole of Srpska, and we have implemented important projects in Pelagićevo, and we are determined to continue,” announced the President of the Republic and added that soon a kindergarten will be built.

The President of Srpska expressed her satisfaction with the gathering after a difficult year and a half of reduced contacts and work under changed circumstances due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“In the course of that difficult year, the Republic of Srpska institutions demonstrated their ability to function well, to resist all challenges and to solve them, thus our local communities went through the crisis far more painlessly thanks to the intervention of the Republic of Srpska Government, which replaced all lacking funds,” stressed President Cvijanović.

According to the President of Srpska, local authorities should listen carefully to the needs of citizens in every local community, because the way to build the entire Republic of Srpska is from grassroots upwards.

“With our determination to work and build a better and stronger Republic of Srpska, to pull together and come out of every crisis stronger, as we came out stronger from this crisis, we show our capacity as a Republic,” concluded President Cvijanovic.

The Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Srpska also provided assistance in organising this event.
