The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, spoke today in the Palace of the Republic with the Minister of Economic Development in the Government of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, and with the Minister of Finance and Social Welfare in the Government of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić.

The President of the Republic of Srpska stated that the co-operation between the private sectors of Srpska and Montenegro is excellent, and that additional strengthening of institutional ties is imminent.  President Cvijanović emphasised that this is something that citizens do expect, because they know that good projects can result only from well-established institutional ties.

“We are committed to fostering regional co-operation.  There is a need to strengthen relations between all countries in the region, especially in terms of co-operation that will lead to better infrastructure and better economic connections,” said the president of Srpska.

As to infrastructure projects, the President of the Republic pointed out that one of the priorities for both the Republic of Srpska and Montenegro is the construction of the road, for which certain preliminary preparations have already begun.

“The project concerns the Brod na Drini – Foča road, namely, the Hum – Šćepan Polje section.  That is approximately 20 kilometres in Srpska and 25 kilometres in Montenegro.  The project is very demanding and I am pleased that the European Commission has funded the part related to the preparation of project documentation.  Now, all other stages and phases are ahead in order for us to be able to begin the implementation of this project, planned for 2023,” noted the President of Srpska.

President Cvijanović stressed that she is especially pleased with the announcement on the establishment of a charter flight between Banja Luka and Tivat, in which the citizens are especially interested.

“We have a lot of work to do to improve and strengthen our foreign trade exchange.  Together, we stated that it is at a worryingly low level, considering how close we are to each other and what we could offer to each other,” said the President of Srpska.

The President of the Republic of Srpska stressed that the goal is to transfer all matters of importance to the scope of the two governments, and to approach each of them operationally.

“We also agreed that there are no open political matters in particular between Srpska and Montenegro, or problems that could be a burden for us.  We have a clear field to work on and co-operate,” noted the President of the Republic of Srpska.

The President of Srpska added that today’s meeting was an opportunity to exchange views on certain matters that concern the situation at the international financial markets.

The President of the Republic indicated that she also spoke with the ministers from Montenegro about the importance of another positioning of the Republic of Srpska, this time on the London Stock Exchange, and the provision of funds in that way.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Trade and Tourism in the Government of the Republic of Srpska, Suzana Gašić.
