The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, made the traditional visit, on occasion of Easter Holidays, to the protégés of the “Rada Vranjesević” Home for Children and Youth without Parental Care in Banja Luka.
At the occasion, the President of the Republic delighted the wards of the Home with appropriate Easter gifts.
For all age groups in the Home, President Cvijanović brought bicycles, rollerblades and scooters, as well as eggs and other gifts.
The President of the Republic underscored that she traditionally comes to the Home on Easter, earlier as Prime Minister, and now as the President of the Republic, and added that everyone, from local communities to the Government as the founder, should take care of this institution.
“We always intervened when anything was needed, following requests from this institution. Be it the necessary bedding, washing machines, toys for the children, bicycles or any other necessities. I think that is a nice way of contributing to the contents here,” noted President Cvijanović.
According to the President of Srpska, when it comes to this institution the essence of engagement is not to visit on some occasion or other and bring something as a gift, but what is required is an organised and institutionally targeted approach.
“We know how important it is and how sensitive this all is. We know how difficult it is to get children on the right path. It is a great challenge even when they live in normal circumstances in a normal, family environment, and especially for the people working here,” stated President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic thanked all employees of the Home for their dedication, hard work and for not giving up, but for trying to design new programmes and add new contents, from which emerged the idea of instituting a kindergarten.
“I am just happy to be here. It is something that we agreed on together some time ago, and now we see that the idea has been put into practice and that our citizens are very interested to help, but most importantly that it serves our children who are taken care of in this home,” emphasised President Cvijanović.
In addition to the kindergarten, the President of the Republic also pointed out that there is a shelter for children and youth, and added that all will help the functioning of the home itself.
“We need to look at how else to design the content, what else to do and add, so that this continues being a place that can really provide a happy environment for children who are not growing up in a family environment,” underlined President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic pointed out that this institution, in co-operation with the institutions of Srpska, is on a good path to achieve this objective.
“I thank all these wonderful people who work here, for they work hard, this is not an easy job. It is not easy even when you raise your own children, let alone when you know how demanding this is,” President Cvijanović reiterated.
The President of the Republic stressed that everyone’s wish is for the children who live in the home to grow up into people that will be able to organise their lives, have families of their own today or tomorrow, and to go through this period of their lives with as little trauma as possible.
“I wish that any unfortunate circumstances they may have encountered in the past be replaced by nice actions and memories they will have after living here. Which is why I am so grateful to the people here and that is why there is this long-standing connection between myself and this institution,” concluded President Cvijanović.
