The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović laid a wreath today in Banja Luka at the Monument to the Fallen Fighters of the People’s Liberation War on occasion of the Banja Luka Day.
The Republic of Srpska President said at the occasion that it is a daily obligation of all Srpska’s citizens to preserve and develop Srpska.
President Cvijanović congratulated the Day of the City to all citizens and declared it is a very important day because it was on this date that freedom was bestowed upon all inhabitants of Banja Luka. She also stressed that it was a fight for higher objectives and ideals that brought freedom.
The President of the Republic of Srpska underlined that it is our lasting obligation, and has been through all these years and decades, but also extends into the future, to preserve peace and our freedom and appreciate the fact that many gave their lives and sacrificed themselves to achieve victory over a great evil so we could today enjoy our freedom and peace.
“It is our obligation to be watchful and to take into account all economic, financial and political challenges lying before the Republic of Srpska and to be unified in the defence against any and all attempts and endeavours to reduce her capacities, significance, to snatch away her competences or to degrade what belongs to the Republic of Srpska according to the Dayton Constitution,” stated President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic noted that we must not forget the difficult period that came later, the Defensive and Patriotic War, when the Serb people was once again forced to fight to defend its freedom and its right to live in peace.
Srpska’s President added that she believes in a developing Banja Luka that will grow and improve with every passing year.
“Banja Luka is the heart and lifeblood of the Republic of Srpska, but our attention must be focused also on all municipalities and local communities,” concluded President Cvijanović.
