Republic of Srpska President Extends Congratulations on 9 May – Victory Day over Fascism in World War II and Europe Day

The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, sent a congratulatory message to the citizens of the Republic of Srpska on occasion of May 9 – the Day of Victory over Fascism in the Second World War and Europe Day.

“The victory over fascism in the Second World War, when the ideology that took millions of human lives was broken, represents one of the greatest civilisational achievements in human history.

“We are proud that, as one of the victorious nations, we contributed to the collapse of fascism and the defence of ideals and values that are deeply woven into the fabric of our society, and are our heritage of freedom, peace and tolerance.

“This is also a day that warns us that the evil of fascism must never again happen, but also obliges us to build peace and stability for the sake of future generations.

“We express our deepest respect and gratitude to all patriots and anti-fascists who sacrificed what is most valuable, their lives, for freedom and the creation of a better and more tolerant world.
