The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović and the Serb member and President of BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik took part in the International Economic Forum in Sankt Petersburg.
The President of the Republic attended today’s plenary session of the Economic Forum, which was addressed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping and the Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres.
The Republic of Srpska President said that this year’s International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg centred upon co-operation between two world powers, Russia and China, but also on collaboration with European countries and on the concept of regional and global co-operation through integration of science, environmental, technological and other functions between states with the objective of achieving sustainable development.
“The International Economic Forum in St Petersburg showed the capacity of Russia to bring together important political figures, and that this prestigious event gathers global business leaders so to identify the most important economic challenges and point out development directions for the future,” noted President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic pointed out that it is very important that the Republic of Srpska have a place in such events.
“Apart from taking active part in the forum, we also have the opportunity of talking to Russian companies which are very important for the implementation of projects in the Republic of Srpska, such as the project of gasification that we are discussing with Gazprom. We are also interested in co-operation in the field of digitalisation, which is one of the most examined topics at every event dedicated to development, and in this field we are establishing important contacts,” stated the President of Srpska.
On the other hand, added Srpska’s President, anyone intending to implement large projects today must count on China as a large investor.
After the Plenary session, President Cvijanović will meet with representatives of the company Zarubezhneft.
