The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, attended today at Mrakovica the celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Battle of Kozara.
The President of the Republic stated that Srpska as a society is functioning on the legacy of everything that Kozara gave, but also many other places throughout the Republic.
President Cvijanović said that the commemoration on Kozara today takes place in somewhat different circumstances than in the previous years, but that in spite of everything, people gathered today at this place to show respect for the libertarian people of Kozara.
The President of the Republic pointed out that, this way, respect is paid to the efforts and to all that was invested during the National Liberation War, but also to the fighters and to the population.
“The population bore a heavy burden and gave an example on how to achieve and defend freedom. The Republic of Srpska inherited the values of everything that Kozara and many other places of ours gave, which have shown their good face and have always been on the right side of history. Therefore, our gratitude, as well as our institutions, must be eternal,” asserted President Cvijanović in Kozara.
The President of Srpska added that this must be the attitude of institutions towards these events, appreciating what was given for freedom, but appreciating today that Srpska as a society functions on the heritage of everything that Kozara and many other places throughout the Republic gave.
“The suffering that happened in this area certainly causes deep respect, but also some other things, which mean a warning that we must build our future, respect our past and base our future on it,” said President Cvijanović.
According to the President, institutions of the Republic of Srpska should always be strengthened based on this heritage and values, because only they are a guarantee of a strong Srpska.
“It is our obligation to build and further strengthen the Republic of Srpska, and every time in all these places we must be additionally aware of that fact,” said President Cvijanović.
