Republic of Srpska President Attends Ceremony Marking Completion of First Section of Pan-European Corridor “Vc” Motorway through Republic of Srpska

The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, attended today in Kostajnica near Doboj the ceremony marking the completion of the construction of the first section of the motorway on the Pan-European Corridor “Vc” through the Republic of Srpska.

The President of the Republic said that with each new kilometre of the motorway, Srpska is getting closer to the implementation of the motorway network project of the Republic of Srpska.

President Cvijanović said that we are moving towards the objective that the Republic of Srpska set out to achieve when the project of the motorways network construction in the Republic of Srpska was planned and created.

The President of the Republic pointed out that a highway passing through a local community implies its faster development, and Srpska thereby shows the stability of its institutions, which are able to implement such important projects with local institutions.

The President of the Republic of Srpska expressed her gratitude for the opportunity given to Srpska to access foreign funding, and stressed that the Republic regularly returns what it takes to implement important projects.

President Cvijanović also thanked representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank, stating that they significantly contributed to the development of the motorway network of the Republic of Srpska.

“I also wish to thank the Republic of Srpska Government, our public enterprises, institutions, which have shown the potential to pay back what is taken and that the Republic of Srpska has never been late in fulfilling its international obligations.  This is not only the case with the EBRD, with the EIB, it is also the case when it comes to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund,” noted the President of the Republic.

The President of Srpska pointed out that she is proud of the capaability of the Republic to take a certain loan to build a large strategic project, and after that pay it all back, while also planning new projects.

According to the President of Srpska, the Republic looks different today than it did when the construction of the first kilometre of the highways began.

“It is the pride and property of all citizens of the Republic of Srpska. Of the institutions that had both the vision and the idea and the courage to start such projects, but also implement them in difficult times,” stated the President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic of Srpska added that Srpska wants to build every part of our region and be connected to Europe and the European Union.

“We do not want to see anyone blocking any projects for anyone else, regardless of whether they are within BiH or those that are implemented in neighbouring countries, and that is our policy,” noted the President of Srpska.

The President of the Republic wished the citizens of Srpska happy motorway kilometres.

“I want us to reach the goal quickly and I want the Republic to look very different again in a few years compared to what it looks like today.  As it looks very different today compared to the time when we started these important projects,” concluded the President of the Republic.
