Reactions by the President of the Republic of Srpska to today’s decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH

Reactions by the Republic of Srpska President Željka Cvijanović to today’s decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH:

“With its decision to contest January 9 as the Day of the Republic of Srpska, the Constitutional Court of BiH once again proved that it is governed by political rather than legal criteria in deciding, and that it has fully assumed the role the OHR had in the past.

Unfortunately, this decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH will additionally violate the already fragile trust of the citizens of the Republic of Srpska in this institution, whose agenda is obviously dictated by political Sarajevo.

With the undeniable historical fact that the Republic of Srpska was founded on January 9, 1992, the opinion of its citizens is binding for the institutions of the Republic of Srpska, since the citizens through the referendum distinctly decided that the Day of the Republic would be marked in the future on the day when Srpska, after all, was formed.

The fact that the Constitutional Court of BiH, where the international judges are seated, deals with the issue of holidays, while BiH is not able to make even the slightest progress, and is not even able to form the government after the conducted elections, speaks about general state of BiH.

The existence of international judges underlines the limited sovereignty of BiH, and it has been proven many times that they are guided by the political desires of the ordering parties, and not by the Constitution.

In accordance with the expectations of the citizens of the Republic of Srpska, as well as historical facts, the obligation of the institutions of the Republic of Srpska is to preserve January 9 as the holiday of its birth.

Today’s decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH is a part of an orchestrated activities directed against the Republic of Srpska on multiple levels – from the denial of the Day of the Republic, various financial blockades, tendentious war crimes verdicts, to the prevention of the formation of power at the level of BiH, with the aim not to respect the will of majority of the citizens of the Republic of Srpska, in order to have Bosniak politicians managing the BiH institutions, in cooperation with international factors.
