Reaction of the President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović to the second-instance verdict of the Hague tribunal against General Ratko Mladić:
“With the second-instance verdict against General Ratko Mladić, the Hague Tribunal once again confirmed the role of the anti-Serbian court, which does not determine responsibility for war crimes according to the evidence, but according to the nationality of the accused.”
If it were the opposite, today’s verdict would not be followed by some of the most notorious Hague indictees, such as Naser Orić, Ramush Haradinaj, Ante Gotovina, as well as many others from whose areas of responsibility the Serbs disappeared forever.
The Hague tribunal will therefore be remembered as a synonym for injustice and a political court whose task is not to contribute to reconciliation, as they hypocritically claim it to be, but to clean the conscience of those who delivered cruise missiles and depleted uranium to us on several occasions in the 1990s.
As for General Mladić, in the most difficult times, he headed the army that defended the Republic of Srpska, as well as the right of the Serb people to live and enjoy freedom. This historical fact, as well as the perception of our people about General Mladić, cannot be changed by any verdict in the world, and especially not by the Hague inquisition, which has lost the last grain of credibility for a long time now”, states the Republic of Srpska President Željka Cvijanović.
