The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović attended today in Gradiška ceremony marking the exodus of the Serbs from the Western Slavonia in 1995.
The President of the Republic of Srpska said that the Serbs with grief remember the ethnic cleansing of their compatriots from Croatia, but also express their support for those who found their homes in the Republic of Srpska after the exodus from the Western Slavonia in 1995.
“We want to show solidarity and to be part of the same society and point to all injustices. It is our duty to talk about crimes, particularly those about which the world does not want to speak, and this is one of such crimes”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic emphasized that the world does not want to talk about even these civilian victims – children, mothers and elderly people who were in these lines, leaving their homes, which seem to have been deleted from the pages of history. “All these UN-protected areas have envisaged the greatest sufferings. Thus, the question arises – How is it possible?”, says the President Cvijanović.
The President of Srpska emphasized that hypocrisy and crimes against Serbs should not be forgotten, but that the door must be opened for the future of new generations, which will be aware of what happened in the past and who are capable of building the future.
