The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met today in Trebinje with the leadership of this city, led by Deputy Mayor Mirko Ćurić.
The President of the Republic of Srpska said that her office will support several important projects in this city in the fields of education, sports and youth.
The President Cvijanović stated that, among other things, the establishment of a talent centre in the village of Zgonjevo near Trebinje will be supported and the elevator will be installed at the Faculty of Production and Management, where two students in wheelchairs are now attending classes.
“The procedure that will be applied to the talent centre is something that fits into what I intended to do as the President of the Republic – to have one such centre at the republic level, which makes it very important for us to have such centres in different parts of the Republic of Srpska so that we can do it at the republic level”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of Republic of Srpska emphasized that she supports the activism coming from Trebinje, since it is much easier for the Government and other institutions to implement the set goals.
According to the President of Srpska, numerous capital projects and social programmes launched in Trebinje in the past period have encouraged the idea to hold a conference of the most responsible people from the local level in order to exchange experiences and see how certain investments are being implemented.
“We shall make a mini-conference of the city and municipality mayors so that we can exchange experiences. We have several active local communities that have designed various support programmes and designed projects, but we also have those which are not that active”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that she particularly prefers programmes in Trebinje directed towards the village and creating the conditions for people to stay there.
“I particularly like the support for parents whose children attend regional schools. This is one of the solutions to the problem of people leaving the village, apart from building better infrastructure”, said the President of the Republic.
After the conversation with the owner of the travel agency “Herc Travel” Špiro Čečur and the owner of brewery “Oz Craft” Andrew Monford, the President Cvijanović pointed out that these two local businesses are an example that if there is an initiative anyone can successfully work and achieve the set goals.
“They show that when you have support and when you have an initiative as well as the business plan – you can succeed. At the beginning, every job requires lots of efforts, but it always pays off in the end”, said the President of the Republic.
The President Cvijanović said that there are two types of private initiatives represented in Trebinje – one of them is supported by the local government in cooperation with the Employment Service, while the other one implemented its own business plan independently, which are positive examples of business.
The President of Srpska pointed out that she is glad that one American, after the visit to Trebinje, decided to move to that city and start his own business.
“Every time when someone wants to deal with business, he has the ability to get support, if he wants it, which means that business leaders are not left to themselves. However, it is sometimes enough only to have an initiative”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic of Srpska previously visited the Day Care Centre for the Elderly, which cooperates with the Centre for Social Work in Trebinje.
The President of Srpska pointed out that the centre is well organised and that conditions are good, which, as she said, is very important since the older population spends their time is in it daily.
The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović also met today in Trebinje with the Bishop Dimitrije of Zahumlje, Herzegovina and the Littoral.
