The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović officially opened tonight in Banja Luka the traditional manifestation “Days of Vlado S. Milošević”.
The President of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that ”Days of Vlado S. Milošević” is a unique cultural manifestation and a kind of debt repayment to a fellow citizen who significantly contributed to the fact that Banja Luka and Krajina were included on the cultural map of the former Yugoslavia and beyond.
“It is a great honour for me to be here tonight and that this year we are gathered around the character and work of our great composer, ethnomusicologist and choirmaster. Since 1999, cultural workers and institutions, Banja Luka and the Republic of Srpska have been celebrating the “Days of Vlado Milošević” and this is traditionally the case this April, on the days when we are celebrating the 121st anniversary of his birth”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic of Srpska expressed her gratitude to the organisers – the Academy of Arts, the Musicological Society of the Republic of Srpska, Banski Dvor, as well as all institutions and individuals participating in the organisation of this holiday of culture and artistic creation.
The President of Srpska pointed out that culture is the strongest cohesion factor of every society and every community.
“Here comes our obligation to preserve the memory of our famous people who left an indelible mark in that area. Vlado Milošević is certainly among them. Investing in culture, as well as nurturing culture and preserving tradition, is a permanent obligation of institutions. It is difficult to find a successful society and an aware community, without the culture of that society being neglected or with rigid attitudes towards artistic freedoms”, said the President Cvijanović.
According to the President of the Republic, the attitude towards culture is often indicative and is a good indicator of the general environment and the direction in which a community is moving to.
“Apart from material investments in projects and cultural institutions, which are certainly necessary, full respect for artistic autonomy and a stimulating creative environment are equally important. Therefore, nurturing free cultural thought and authentic values of one nation implies a synthesis of both factors necessary for cultural development”, said the President of the Republic of Srpska.
The President Cvijanović added that significant funds have been invested for cultural institutions in recent years, but that Srpska institutions are aware that much remains to be done in this regard.
“Only through the joint efforts of institutions and cultural workers we can provide an even more stimulating environment for our artistic creators, as well as further development in the field of culture. This manifestation represents a great contribution to that common goal to the honour of our Vlado Milošević. With great pleasure, I declare the traditional cultural event “Days of Vlado Milošević” open”, said the President of the Republic.
