The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met today with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Palmer at the headquarters of the Republic of Srpska in East Sarajevo.
During the meeting, the President Cvijanović and Palmer discussed the current political and economic situation in the Republic of Srpska and BiH, as well as the improvement of cooperation between the United States of America and the Republic of Srpska.
During the discussion with Palmer, the President Cvijanović emphasized that the Republic of Srpska institutions are fully committed to cooperation, preservation of peace and stability in the region and further implementation of economic and social reforms aimed at improving the business environment and living standards of all citizens.
On this occasion, the President Cvijanović expressed the commitment of the Republic of Srpska to the consistent respect of the Dayton Peace Agreement, as well as the Constitution of BiH, as its Annex 4.
The President of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that it is high time for the new Council of Ministers to be formed, as well as the government at all levels, and stressed that the respect for democratic procedures and the exercise of the electoral will of the citizens cannot be the subject of political conditioning.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the security challenges in BiH and stressed that more and more coordination of relevant institutions from all levels of government is necessary on this issue.
The meeting was also attended by the US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson.
