The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met today with the Prime Minister of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapić in the Palace of the Republic.

“Today’s conversation was in function of what needs to be done to improve relations and to understand each other better”, said the President Cvijanović.

The President of Srpska emphasized that she talked with the Prime Minister of Montenegro about how to raise the natural awareness of each other to a higher level and provide all the logistics so that things could be implemented.

“The activity we have recently made official together is to be welcomed, and that is the abolition of toll collection in order to provide easier and cheaper communication of our citizens with Montenegro. Since we are going to meet the tourist season, we discussed the Montenegro’s readiness to receive tourists”, said the President Cvijanović.

The President of the Republic pointed out that this is especially important for the citizens of Srpska, who are traditionally located on the Montenegrin coast.

The President Cvijanović stated that the connection should be two-way, and called on the citizens of Montenegro to spend their holidays in a multitude of tourist facilities in the Republic of Srpska, starting with good spa centres, mountains, extreme sports, religious tourism and others.

“We are pleased with the planned introduction of an airline that will further improve the ability of our people to travel. Our wish is to raise mutual relations to the highest possible level, to make it a natural connection, as it is with Serbia, but also to develop what is a regional cooperation in every potential way”, said the President of the Republic of Srpska.

The President of Srpska added that EU resources should be used, which provide certain opportunities to strengthen such regional or interstate ties.

“We are available here for every economic project, knowing that our businessmen are already referred to each other, but that they often need exactly that logistics that comes from the institutions themselves”, explained the President of the Republic.

According to the President Cvijanović, the meeting was an opportunity to brief the Prime Minister of Montenegro with the political situation, and pointed out that the institutions of Srpska are stable and functional, as well as that the Government of the Republic of Srpska is doing its job.

“We have had difficult challenges in the previous period marked by a pandemic, but we have managed to go through that period quite stably. Our hospitals functioned, our health sector did suffer a lot of pressure, but with the help of institutions we have managed to overcome the crisis”, it was emphasized by the President Cvijanović and she therefore expressed the expectation that with vaccination process, everyone will enter a calmer period.

The President of the Republic of Srpska stated that the budget of Srpska is stable, that all requirements are met on time.

“I am satisfied with the fact that the Government has negotiated and entered into an important activity related to salary increases, which sends the message that we are functional and that we can fulfill our obligations, but above all that we take care of our citizens”, said the President Cvijanović.

The President of the Republic of Srpska thanked the Prime Minister of Montenegro for the visit, and expressed hope that everything they discussed would be implemented.
