During her official visit to the Republic of Poland, the President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met today in separate meetings with the President of the Sejm, the Lower House of the Polish Parliament Elżbieta Witek, and the State Secretary in the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy Małgorzata Jarosińska Jedynak.
The President Cvijanović and President Witek exchanged views on the current situation in the European Union, Poland’s position, as well as the EU enlargement policy.
During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of further strengthening the institutional ties between Srpska and Poland, but also the creation of conditions for the improvement of various types of cooperation.
The President of Srpska informed the President of the Polish Parliament about the constitutional position of the Republic of Srpska, as well as the political situation and overall relations in BiH.
On this occasion, the intensity of contacts between the Republic of Srpska and Poland and its regions was welcomed, and it was emphasized that the visit of the President Cvijanović to Poland is an important step towards even better mutual relations, and it was assessed that such practice should be continued in the future.
At the meeting with the State Secretary in the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy Małgorzata Jarosińska Jedynak, the President Cvijanović pointed out that European integration and strengthening regional cooperation are the strategic commitment of the institutions of the Republic of Srpska.
During the meeting, the intensive cooperation between Srpska and several Polish voivodeships in various areas was especially emphasized, and the commitment to further improvement of relations was expressed.
The President Cvijanović emphasized that the Polish experience in the field of withdrawal and use of European funds is very useful, and expressed gratitude to the hosts for their readiness to share their experiences with the Republic of Srpska.
