President of the Republic of Srpska meets with the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and the EU Special Representative in BiH

The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met today in her office with the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and the EU Special Representative in BiH Johann Sattler.

The current political and economic situation in the Republic of Srpska and BiH was discussed at the meeting, with a special emphasis on the process of European integration.

The interlocutors exchanged views on 14 key priorities from the European Commission Opinion to be met by BiH in order for its application for membership to be accepted, with the prospect of opening accession negotiations from the relevant EU institutions.

It was assessed that all levels of government in BiH should make additional efforts for faster and more efficient implementation of reform processes, in order to strengthen the further dynamics of the European path.

The President of the Republic reiterated that the institutions of the Republic of Srpska are firmly committed to the continuation of the European path, as well as faster economic development, and stressed the importance of respecting the rules of the harmonised coordination mechanism.

On this occasion, the President Cvijanović thanked the Ambassador Sattler on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Srpska and on her own behalf, for the support provided by the European Union through the Regional Housing Programme for Families of Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons, and for the donation to overcome the consequences of the corona virus epidemic.
