The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met today with the Governor of the Austrian Province of Salzburg Wilfried Haslauer.
The President Cvijanović and Governor Haslauer discussed intensifying relations regarding institutional cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and the Province of Salzburg, European integration processes and interregional cooperation.
Also, at the meeting they discussed the strengthening of economic ties between the Republic of Srpska and the Province of Salzburg and networking in the fields of common interest.
On this occasion, the President Cvijanović highlighted that Srpska is committed to strengthening regional cooperation, as a precondition for more efficient market integration, and noted that the numerous Serb community living in the province of Salzburg is an important link for strengthening good business and institutional relations.
The President Cvijanović told Austrian investors that they were welcome in Srpska, and stressed that there is the high level of foreign trade between Srpska and Austria, and that there was room for further strengthening of economic ties.
At the meeting with the Governor Haslauer, the President of Srpska also highlighted some of the problems the Serb community faces in Austria, such as the inability to learn Serbian language in regular teaching, and emphasized that assistance from provincial authorities in this segment would be very helpful.
During the stay in the Province of Salzburg, the President Cvijanović was interviewed for the Salzburger Nachrichten, one of the most important daily newspapers in Austria.
