President of the Republic of Srpska meets with representatives of the executive and legislative power of Austria

The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met in Vienna today with representatives of the executive and legislative power of Austria.

In separate meetings, the President Cvijanović met with the Head of the Club of Deputies of the Freedom Party in the Austrian Parliament Johann Gudenus, the Head of the Parliamentary group of Austrian People’s Party in the Parliament of Austria Reinhold Lopatka, the Special Adviser to the European Commissioner Johannes Hahn for the Western Balkans and Ukraine, Franz Schausberger, as well as with the Head of the Department for Coordination with the EU of Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Alexander Schallenberg.

The political situation in the Republic of Srpska and BiH was discussed at the meetings with Austrian officials in the context of the carrying out of election results, the European integration and the improvement of cooperation.

On this occasion, the President Cvijanović expressed satisfaction with the current cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and Austria, adding that relations in the coming period shall be further improved.

The President Cvijanović briefed the interlocutors that the Republic of Srpska formed the government after the elections, it adopted the budget and strategic documents, thus providing institutional stability and demonstrating its full democratic capacity.

During the meeting, the President of the Republic of Srpska expressed regret over the delay in carrying out election results at other levels of government in BiH, and stressed that this would have a negative impact on the European path of BiH.

The President Cvijanović stressed that the Republic of Srpska is committed to the continuation of the European integration, in accordance with the agreed coordination mechanism and with full respect for the constitutional competences of all levels of government in BiH, and respect for the Dayton Accords.

On this occasion, the President stressed that the Republic of Srpska fulfills all the undertaken obligations in the context of the European path, and that it is high time for those who are responsible for the current stagnation to be called the real name.

The President of the Republic of Srpska briefed the interlocutors in Austria with the announced initiative of the SDA and pointed out that such provocations present an act of hostility towards the Republic of Srpska and that they unnecessarily raise the situation and severely disturb the relations between the constituent peoples in BiH.

The Republic of Srpska President Željka Cvijanović emphasized that in BiH there are currently many more priority things to be done, primarily on the economic and social level.

During the meetings, the President Cvijanović exchanged views with other interlocutors on other topics as well as on common security challenges.
