President of the Republic of Srpska meets with Head of the Council of Europe Office in BiH

30/10/2019

The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met in her office today with the Head of the Council of Europe Office in BiH Drahoslav Stefanek and discussed the current political situation, as well as the consequences BiH suffers from the fact that, after a year, no election results were conducted at all levels of government.

It was stated at the meeting that a deadlock in the process of government formation halted numerous political, development and reform processes, including the appointment of a BiH delegation to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, which had a negative impact on the international reputation of BiH.

On this occasion, the President Cvijanović stressed that the Republic of Srpska institutions have good cooperation with the Council of Europe, and regretted that the political conditioning of certain Bosniak leaders prevented the formation of a legitimate government and a new convocation of the Council of Ministers, thus endangering the process of the European integration and relations with the Council of Europe and other important international partners.

During the meeting, the President of Srpska highlighted that the institutions of the Republic of Srpska remain committed to cooperation, as well as to the implementation of reform processes aimed at strengthening the rule of law and improving economic and social opportunities that affect the living standards of all citizens.
