President of the Republic of Srpska meets in Washington with Senator and Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)

The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met today in Washington with the Senator and Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Roger Wicker.

During the meeting, they discussed the political and security situation in BiH and the region, the successful and continuous cooperation of the competent institutions of the Republic of Srpska with the United States in the fight against terrorism and extremism was emphasized.

At the meeting they discussed the implementation of the necessary reform processes in BiH, with special emphasis on the reform of electoral legislation, in order to ensure the legitimate representation of all constituent peoples.

On this occasion, the President Cvijanović pointed out that the Republic of Srpska is not an obstacle to the reform of the election legislation, pointing out the necessity of reaching an agreement between the partners in the Federation of BiH.

The President of Srpska previously met with the Director for the Balkans and Central Europe in the National Security Council (NSC) at the White House Robin Brooks.

During the meeting, the President of Srpska expressed concern over the rising tensions and frequent threats of conflict coming from political actors from Sarajevo, emphasizing that the institutions of Srpska are fully committed to preserving peace and stability, political dialogue and consistent respect for the Dayton Accords and existing constitutional solutions.
