The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met today in Washington, in separate meetings, with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the President of the United States of America for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar and the US Envoy for Electoral Reforms in BiH Matthew Palmer.
In a conversation with Deputy Assistant Secretary Gabriel Escobar, the interlocutors exchanged views on the current political and economic situation in the Republic of Srpska and BiH, and on the possibilities of strengthening cooperation.
On this occasion, the President Cvijanović pointed out the need for a balanced approach towards BiH, as well as the interests of all three constituent peoples, and stressed that this is the only way to ensure a stable and prosperous future.
At the meeting, the President of Srpska expressed support for the Open Balkans initiative, as well as stronger economic cooperation between the countries of the region.
During the meeting with Matthew Palmer, the reforms of the election legislation in BiH were discussed, and on that occasion, the President Cvijanović reiterated the positions of Srpska over this issue, emphasizing the need to ensure legitimate representation of all constituent peoples and pointing out the need to reach an agreement between partners in the Federation.
