The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović held a meeting in Banja Luka today with the representatives of parliamentary political parties in the Republic of Srpska.
The President of the Republic of Srpska stated that there is a united position of all political factors in Srpska to continue with marking the Day of the Republic of Srpska, that this is January 9 which is a historical fact, and that it is not in the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court of BiH to decide on this matter.
After the meeting with representatives of parliamentary political parties in Srpska, the President Cvijanović said that a joint statement was signed stating that the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH on the Day of the Republic was politically motivated and it is more political than legal.
“This is another political attack that is focused on the political structure and the system of Srpska, its national being, its identity and its constitutional capacity”, said the President of the Republic of Srpska.
The President of the Republic highlighted that Srpska has the jurisdiction to adopt Law on Holidays and that such a law does not exist at the level of BiH.
“The dominant issue at the meeting was to discuss relations within BiH and priority issues which must be solved by Srpska institutions, what are the potential challenges, and how we shall always jointly respond to them. It is an enormous political capital. A clear position was expressed that we have answers to all questions and that relations within BiH have become unbearable. We want all these issues to be urgently brought into order since there are other priorities that we need to deal with”, said the President of the Republic of Srpska.
The President of Srpska recalled that previously there were struggles with the identity issue of the Republic of Srpska – the hymn, the coat of arms, which, she says, gives the right to think that this was not enough, and that such motion should be continued until the end, with the aim of destroying the national being of Srpska.
“Our commitment is that in BiH we deny nothing to anyone and we do not interfere with what is a national being and the identity of any other people. This is our political maturity, but we must have political reactions to political actions and it is not enough to warn other people, and we have to take certain steps if such attacks are continued”, said the President Cvijanović, adding that it must be possible to enforce needs, tradition and customs of all nations.
The President of the Republic expressed her satisfaction that unity was achieved and added that at the meeting there was no mention of the formation of government at the level of BiH.
The President of Srpska assessed that the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH destroy trust, return things back and that BiH does not have the chances that normal countries have at its disposal.
The President of the Republic of Srpska reiterated that the Constitutional Court of BiH assumed the role previously held by the OHR and stated that it was devastating that this institution invokes to the item of the BiH Constitution that does not exist in the publication of the decision.
“Whether we are together in a formal coalition or not, our commitment is to jointly act and to have unified views on every issue that is essential for the status of the Republic of Srpska, its constitutional capacity, national being and identity, which I am satisfied with. I would like that the parties from the Republic of Srpska have a formally joint presence at the level of BiH, but I appreciate the autonomy of each political party”, said the President Cvijanović.
