President of the Republic of Srpska extends congratulations on the occasion of May 3 – World Press Freedom Day

The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović extended congratulations to all journalists, editorial offices and journalist associations in the Republic of Srpska on the occasion of May 3 – the World Press Freedom Day.

“Celebrating May 3 – the World Press Freedom Day is an opportunity to point out the importance of the fundamental principles of the press freedom, as well as the role of the media in strengthening democratic principles.

Every single society needs free, professional and independent media, which respect traditional journalistic values whose reporting is based on verified facts.

In the future, the institutions of the Republic of Srpska will, within their competence, enable as much press freedom as possible so that the media staff will perform their responsible work with as few obstacles and difficulties as possible.

I once again use the opportunity to congratulate you the World Press Freedom Day and wish you a better professional and personal standard, successful work and good health”, said the President Cvijanović.
