The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović attends closing ceremony of the “Days of Srpska in Serbia” in Belgrade tonight.

The President of the Republic of Srpska emphasized that “Days of Srpska in Serbia” is a highly successful project of cooperation and promotion, which is proved by the increasing number of local communities that want to participate in this event, whose main goal is the promotion of economic, cultural, tourist and sports events, as well as further strengthening of relations between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.

“The fact that we started in Belgrade for the first year and this time we have broken all records by carrying out activities in 21 towns across Serbia proves the scope, importance and successful organisation of this event”, said the President Cvijanović in her official address in the National Theatre in Belgrade at the closing ceremony of the “Days of Srpska in Serbia”.

The President of the Republic said that she is honored and pleased to be in Belgrade tonight and to have the opportunity to attend the closing ceremony of this very significant and now traditional event, which was successfully organised by the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia for the seventh time.

“There is no need to speak any further about the closeness of the people living on both sides of the River Drina, nor about the fact that our relations go beyond the formal and institutional links, which are reflected in the Special and Parallel Relations Agreement.

There is not a single success or problem that is happening in Serbia or in the Republic of Srpska, and that it is not in some way commonly felt or perceived”, it was emphasized by the President of Srpska.

The President of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that every victory of Serbia, whether it was the opening of a new factory, the construction of a modern highway or the gold medal won by the outstanding national women`s volleyball players, made people in the Republic of Srpska proud and happy.

“On the other hand, Serbia is very supportive of our efforts to provide stability and further development of the Republic of Srpska. That is why there is not a more important task for us, a greater interest, nor a more important goal in Srpska than further strengthening our relations and increasing ties with Serbia”, said the President of Srpska.

The President of the Republic of Srpska noted that throughout the recent and further history, the border with Serbia and crossing it safely have often been a matter of life and death, and today it was essential to ensure the free movement of people, goods, ideas and capital, which will further strengthen business cooperation and overall development.

“We are very grateful to the leadership of Serbia for their understanding, principled political support, as well as for the numerous projects that were implemented in the Republic of Srpska with the financial assistance of the Government of Serbia. It is also important to mention that there is almost no municipality in Srpska today, in which Serbia is not present through a newly built or reconstructed school, hospital, kindergarten, road, cultural centre, bridge, sports hall or some other facility”, said the President of Srpska.

The President of the Republic emphasized that Srpska is grateful to Serbia for the assistance it provides in education and training of its staff in the field of health, as well as its support in the modernisation of the educational process.

“Serbia’s participation in our humanitarian campaigns is of utmost importance and it is appreciated by our citizens. They like the fact that we do and act together”, added the President of the Republic.

The President of Srpska said that she can say with great pleasure that relations between Srpska and Serbia are stronger than ever and that in the future they can only be further improved.

“This event, which we are solemnly closing tonight, also contributes greatly to strengthening our ties. On this behalf, I would like to express my special gratitude to the Representative Office of the Republic of Srpska in Belgrade, as well as to everyone who contributed that the event “Days of Srpska in Serbia” is organised on the highest level again this year.

We live in challenging times, still carrying many burdens from the past and struggling with the same stereotypes. Many processes are happening around us, and also within us, and that is why it is important to strengthen our position for the time to come”, said the President of the Republic of Srpska and thanked Serbia for the support it provides on behalf of the citizens and institutions of the Republic of Srpska.
