The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović attended the meeting of the Serb Member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in Belgrade tonight.
The President of the Republic of Srpska said that economic issues, especially the gasification project, were the focus of talks she and the Serb member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik had with the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
“We have discussed the continuation of economic cooperation, the most important issues discussed earlier, but there is always room for new projects to be established”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic of Srpska explained that special emphasis was placed on the gasification project, the implementation of which was previously addressed by the Government and institutions of the Republic of Srpska, as well as expectations for the forthcoming period. “We are interested in participating this, being the part of the story”, it was added by the Republic of Srpska President.
The President of Srpska expressed satisfaction with the political understanding of the Republic of Srpska and Russia, and said that when such understanding exists, there are no obstacles on the economic path.
The President Cvijanović also pointed to the significant role of Russia in the UN Security Council, where it speaks the language of truth.
“I am sorry that we as the Republic of Srpska, and this is not the only region of that kind, have become the subject of various manipulations and speculations coming mainly from Sarajevo, and together with it and from certain foreign addresses that have tried to put us in the spotlight and portray us as the area where, allegedly, there is a Russian malignant influence”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic said that there were different influences in BiH and that, as she explained, she did not know why it would be problematic if there was a Russian influence in the way they wanted to describe it. “Why should this be problematised among other different influences that exist there”, enquired the President Cvijanović.
The President of Srpska specified that the meeting with the Russian Prime Minister was a good opportunity to inform him that no government was formed in BiH even a year after the election.
The President Cvijanović assessed that this had happened since the formula for coexistence in BiH was obviously conditionality, rather than understanding and agreeing.
