The President of the Republic of Srpska has said in Stari Brod, at the site of a terrible crime against the Serb people, that there is no planning for the future and living of the present unless we are aware of the past and of all the challenges that the past has brought.
“Horrified with everything that happened in this place, the way people were killed just because they were Serbs and everything that such suffering brought to them at that time, but also to us today, we have to build our own defense mechanisms so that something like that never happens again”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic pointed out that every time when the River Drina separated the Serbs there were severe losses, and each time it merged people, people felt protected.
“That is why it is always necessary for us today, and in the future, for those involved in important business, to observe the River Drina as the main landmark. The River Drina must connect us, it must show us that we are one, that we can defend ourselves, and that we must build such awareness that we always respect our victims and that when planning future, we remember everything from the past that we have gone through”, said the President of the Republic.
The President of the Republic of Srpska stressed that she believed in the Republic of Srpska since it carries the power of the people.
“Only such the Republic of Srpska can exist, which serves its interests without hurting anyone else. We do not want to be a political servant to anyone, neither those in Sarajevo, nor anyone who creates specific plans in the entire world”, it was stressed by the President of the Republic of Srpska.
The President of the Republic said that the Republic of Srpska had overcome many obstacles and problems, financial, economic and political ones, and it was able to move on.
“We have managed to overcome everything, to move on and step further into the future, knowing that we value what we have and that is freedom. Freedom is the most important, because it is built on the many sacrifices and the difficult past that made us slaves and sufferers, but at the same time, it made us smart enough so we should not sacrifice the freedom we enjoy today at all costs”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic of Srpska stated that she had used the opportunity, as the President of the Republic, to award people who made a great human and financial contribution for this crime to never been forgotten.
