The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović attended today in Trebinje the celebration of Vidovdan – the Patron Saint of the Army of the Republic of Srpska and the Third Infantry (Republic of Srpska) Regiment.
The President of the Republic of Srpska attended the Holy Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of our Lord in Trebinje and the memorial service for all Serbian soldiers who died from the Battle of Kosovo until today.
The President of Srpska extended congratulations on the occasion of the Patron Saint of the Army of the Republic of Srpska and the Third Infantry (Republic of Srpska) Regiment and pointed out that with this gathering in Trebinje they showed unity, they showed they respect important dates from the past and look at everything that needs to be done in the future.
As a fact, the President Cvijanović pointed out that this important date is celebrated throughout the Republic of Srpska at various places every year.
“It actually shows our commitment to show respect in all parts of the Republic of Srpska towards those who created Srpska, who defended its freedom, defended our right to life and our right to the future”, said the President of the Republic, adding that it was the obligation of institutions to respect everything that is important from the past, but also to connect the past with the future and find the right path.
“I am certain that when we are together and when we are gathered around common interests, and that is primarily the Republic of Srpska, strong, stable, responsible, which knows what it wants, which can organise its life, it responds to the political, economic and any other challenges, then I know that we are always there to fulfill those goals”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of Srpska thanked everyone who gave their lives, as well as everyone who made difficult political decisions in difficult times in the past.
“This is the day to send the message that in the future, with equal responsibilities, we will look at and deal with all the challenges that this future may bring to us”, said the President Cvijanović.
After the Holy Liturgy, the President of the Republic of Srpska laid flowers at the monument to the defenders of Trebinje.
