The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović and the Prime Minister of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapić made official today the abolition of the toll ramp on the main road Trebinje – Herceg Novi.
The President of the Republic stated after the official announcement that the toll abolition on the road between Trebinje and Herceg Novi is a great undertaking when it comes to better cooperation, understanding and relief for citizens and the economy.
The President Cvijanović said that the toll abolition means a lot in financial terms, particularly for citizens or the economy of a local character, considering that they are people who cross the border more often and visit the Montenegrin coast.
“We are aware of each other and this is a way to show that this knowledge must not tolerate any barrier. I am really grateful, I think this is a great gesture”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of Srpska pointed out that she very much appreciates this gesture of Montenegro, which will mean a lot for the citizens and the economy.
“This is a gesture that fits into our good friendly relations in which we want to remove barriers, and not to set new ones. I think this is the right way to achieve something like that”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic pointed out the joint work on removing infrastructural barriers and added that there will be projects that will make better connections and better traffic and road communication.
“We are thinking the same and I am happy that it was announced that after many years, the airline Banja Luka-Tivat route will be revitalised”, said the President Cvijanović.
As she assessed, that will mean a lot for the tourism of Montenegro, but also for the Republic of Srpska and BiH, because two-way communication will be achieved, which will be facilitated.
The President Cvijanović emphasized the commitment that the relations between Srpska and Montenegro are of high quality, especially when connecting the infrastructure and strengthen the economy, as well as to strengthen political understanding.
The President of Srpska assessed that a lot of work is ahead to improve the level of foreign trade, emphasizing that poor infrastructure or poor connection is one of the biggest issues, i.e. is an obstacle to raising the level of that exchange.
The President Cvijanović stressed that this is a great day today and the beginning of removing various barriers, the beginning of a new time in which Republic of Srpska and Montenegro want to cooperate closely and for the benefit of the citizens of both Srpska and Montenegro.
“I think that we will cooperate well in the future and that our citizens will only benefit from that”, it was pointed out by the President of the Republic, adding that Srpska has a lot to offer to Montenegrin and European tourists, whether it is about wintering, religious tourism, extreme sports, spa centres.
The President Cvijanović pointed out that people from the Republic of Srpska are directed to the Montenegrin coast, but that there is so much that can be discovered in Srpska. “If it attracts European tourists, why it would not attract our neighbors, the people from the region”, said the President Cvijanović.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac, the Mayor of Trebinje Mirko Ćurić and the President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi Stevan Katić, also attended the official toll abolition on the road between Trebinje and Herceg Novi.
