The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanovć spoke today in Banja Luka with the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative to BiH Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark.
The meeting discussed activities implemented by the Republic of Srpska institutions in the process of European integration, as well as current political and economic subjects.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the finalisation of additional replies to questions from the European Commission’s Questionnaires, and expressed optimism that harmonised replies will be delivered at the soonest and that BiH will become an EU accession candidate.
President Cvijanović stressed at the occasion that Republic of Srpska institutions represent an unavoidable factor in the process of European integration, and that common activities in this field can be implemented in accordance with the rules and principles of the co-ordination system.
The interlocutors also discussed the process of formation of authorities after the October elections, and President Cvijanović underlined that, by forming her authorities, the Republic of Srpska was ahead of others in BiH, where these processes are still ongoing.
The President of the Republic underlined that the focus of all competent institutions of the Republic of Srpska will be the institutional, fiscal and budgetary stability as precondition for a successful continuation of implementation of required reforms.
At the occasion, Ambassador Wigemark officially congratulated President Cvijanović on her election to the office of the President of the Republic.
