The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik ceremonially opened the 4th Energy Summit “SET Trebinje 2023” today in Trebinje.

The President Dodik pointed out that Srpska is the only regional exporter of electricity and that it exports about 30 percent of its total production.

The President of the Republic of Srpska said that Srpska could export more electricity, but that it is not doing so because it is directed towards solving certain social issues.

The President of Srpska added that there are no electricity restrictions in the Republic of Srpska, while such a phenomenon is noticeable in certain large European cities.

“Keeping in mind that the number of participants of this Summit is growing every year, today, to encourage you for future years, we have decided to build a new modern congress centere exclusively dedicated to energy, because we want Trebinje to retain that importance. These days we will get started.”, said the President of the Republic, adding that the centre should be completed in two to three years.

The President Dodik pointed out that this year the Republic of Srpska will have fully assured electricity production without any problems, which, he says, is evidenced by the excellent level of water accumulation in the lakes.

“With the operational work of our “Elektroprivreda”, the reservoir is 100 percent filled. We treat the resources we have in the right way. The Republic of Srpska is here to cooperate with you”, said the President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic of Srpska added that in recent talks, the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban proposed that Hungary, Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, as well as all those who wish to do so in the region, join the formation of a solidary energy community.

“To exchange resources together, to plan together, to act together and to help each other together in this unstable time when it must not happen that our economy has no potential, i.e. no energy”, emphasized the President of the Republic.

The President of Srpska emphasized that the Republic of Srpska wants to stimulate investors in Srpska, and that the Republic guarantees investors a certain price of electricity in a five-year period.

“Provided that they open some industrial branch here, which would not make our people work for a misery because they work for low wages, but which would make them worthy people who live here”, said the President Dodik.

The President of the Republic of Srpska added that Srpska wants to be a part of the progress of the region and will certainly contribute to that.

“The Republic of Srpska has a constitutional awareness of the need for energy innovations, and we will support any new technology that appears anywhere in the world and we will try to implement it here”, said the President Dodik.
