The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik attended today in Piskavica, near Banja Luka, the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the death of the Commander of the First Krajina Corps and the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of the Republic of Srpska Colonel General Momir Talić.
The President of the Republic stated that General Momir Talić is undoubtedly one of the most responsible for the existence of the Republic of Srpska and that he gave a significant stamp to the liberation struggle of the Serb people during the Defense and Patriotic War.
The President Dodik highlighted that General Talić did not hesitate and that he successfully led his army.
“Twenty years have passed since the death of an important man of our nation, who fought for freedom. He never gave up and he clearly knew how to lead the fight. That is why we should always gather here”, said the President of the Republic.
The President of Srpska pointed out that the Westerners tried to condemn General Talić, but that they had no reason, so all they tried was just an attack on this man.
The President Dodik said that he submitted a “report” to the General today regarding the state of the Republic of Srpska.
“I said that our Republic is here, that it is free and is within the same framework, that they attack, but that we defend our freedom”, said the President of the Republic of Srpska.
While submitting a “report” to the General Talić, the President Dodik said that without a state there is no freedom for the Serb people, and that the decision to abolish the Army of the Republic of Srpska was deeply wrong, made under conditions of enormous pressure and under the threat that the Republic of Srpska would be detached if it was not done that way.
“The Army of the Republic of Srpska is an honorable army and I, as the President of the Republic of Srpska, do not feel any less in the role of commander of the army, as the Constitution says, as it was before”, said the President of Srpska.
“We will do everything to ensure that the memory of General Talić and our struggle remains permanent”, it was pointed out by the President Dodik.
