President of the Republic of Srpska meets with the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of the Republic of Serbia
The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović met today in East Sarajevo with the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković.
The President of the Republic of Srpska stated that, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, she discussed strengthening the cooperation, which was excellent in the previous period.
The President Cvijanović said that there is a strategic interest in cooperation in the field of infrastructure, energy, health, education and sports.
Expressing determination for the cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and Serbia to be continued, the President of the Republic pointed out that the implementation of several large projects is of strategic interest, one of which is the continuation of the construction of the highway from Doboj, through Vukosavlje and Bijeljina to Rača.
“One of the most important topics is the final completion of activities when it comes to the Bratoljub Bridge, which Serbia built a few years ago, the Republic of Srpska built access roads and the obligation of BiH levels remains when it comes to a joint border crossing”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic added that, according to the current information, activities related to the border crossing on the Bratoljub Bridge near Bratunac should be completed this year.
“We are very happy because it will make better communication for our citizens and businessmen”, said the President Cvijanović, reminding that the project of building a bridge near Bratunac was started at the request of businessmen from that part of the Republic of Srpska.
The President of the Republic of Srpska mentioned, as one of the great strategic projects, the planned construction of the airport in Trebinje, in which construction Serbia intends to invest almost 100 million euros.
“It is a project that will mean a lot for all our people who live in that part of the Republic of Srpska, but also in terms of communication in the regional context”, said the President of Srpska.
The President of the Republic said that certain activities had been started in relation to the construction of energy facilities in the upper course of the Drina River, which she said would be important in terms of energy, economy and life for the citizens of Serbia and Srpska.
“I am also pleased with the good communication between our educational institutions”, said the President of Srpska.
The President of the Republic of Srpska expressed special gratitude to Serbia for leaving a mark in every municipality of the Republic of Srpska with its donations in previous years, especially for the help in the past and this year, during the crisis caused by the Coronavirus.
“In the coming period, we will try to achieve all that is good from joint projects for all our citizens”, said the President of the Republic.
The President Cvijanović especially thanked Minister Selaković for the balanced attitude towards everyone living in BiH and their needs, emphasizing that his good knowledge of the situation in BiH and the Republic of Srpska can contribute to strengthening relations between countries in the region.
