Republic of Srpska President Meets with State Minister of Salzburg for Traffic, Infrastructure and Sports

The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, met during her stay in Salzburg, where she took part in the work of the 16th European Summit, with the minister of the Austrian state of Salzburg for traffic, infrastructure and sports, Stefan Schnöll.

Interlocutors exchanged views on current political and economic matters in the Republic of Srpska, BiH and the region, with specific reference to the social and economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

President Cvijanović pointed out that she is satisfied with the way in which the institutions of the Republic of Srpska responded to the challenges of the pandemic, and emphasised that, in addition to protecting the health of citizens, the priorities are the revitalisation of economic activities, preservation of jobs and of the dynamics of social life.

Furthermore, the meeting examined the strengthening of institutional and economic ties between the Republic of Srpska and the state of Salzburg, and discussed the possibilities of co-operation and transfer of knowledge in the field of infrastructure, transport and new technologies.

On this occasion, Stefan Schnöll pointed out that there are good foundations for strengthening ties between the province of Salzburg and the Republic of Srpska, and the interlocutors assessed that the large Serb community living in Salzburg, but also throughout Austria, is an important support in strengthening good business and institutional relations.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska, Alen Šeranić, the Minister of European Integration and International Co-operation of the Republic of Srpska, Zlatan Klokić, and the Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Austria, Mladen Filipović.
