The President of the Republic of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, attended today at the Jahorina Mt. the opening of the Conference in Support of the Creative Industry.
The President of the Republic stated that the Conference in Support of the Creative Industry should help all participants to understand each other much better, and to understand how this activity contributes to the economy.
“I am open for good new ideas and anything that can contribute to the development of a local community and beyond. It is necessary to start forming the Council for Creative Industry. We have many young creative and talented people and a great potential, and we need to bring the people together and turn them into the advantage of the Republic of Srpska. People in this field can pull society forward,” emphasised President Cvijanović.
The President of Srpska stated that there is an ambition to create preconditions in all parts of Srpska for the existence of a local community that will be recognisable as an incubator for creative industries, and pointed out that the Republic’s institutions must support such activities.
President Cvijanović expressed her satisfaction for having the opportunity to attend the Conference in Support of the Creative Industry at the Olympic Mountain and to support it as a sponsor with the idea of showing that institutions must back this field of activity.
After the Council for Creative Industry is formed within the Office of the President of the Republic of Srpska, President Cvijanović pointed out, the intention is to have at least two or three places in Srpska for the development of creative industry.
“The ambition is to create the preconditions in all parts of Srpska to have at least one local community that will be recognisable as an incubator for creative industries. It is, in fact, a great challenge, but if institutions fail to recognise how society or certain segments of society breathe, then those institutions cannot do their job well enough. It is my obligation to communicate all this well with the Government, but also with the universities,” noted President Cvijanović.
The President of Srpska said that the initiative for the organisation of the Conference came from several artists, young people who presented her with certain plans and they decided together to try to create an institutional framework and unite technical and faculties of arts, and to put them in contact with economic entities and look for the benefits, not only for individuals, but for the society as a whole.
President Cvijanović added that there is a huge potential in this field, and that many talented persons can be in the service of economic development of society.
“It very often happens that we have many initiatives that are very personal, by private or small enterprises, or associations that are into such activities, but are not sufficiently recognised as entities by society or the economy. We have decided to put them all in the service of the economy so to be able to evaluate what the benefits are for the whole of society,” explained the President of the Republic of Srpska.
The President of the Republic remarked that the creative industry indicates that this is a new way of thinking or some new contribution that should be given to the entire economy.
“I am here to give my absolute support to all of this and to contemplate with you the best way we can use our talented people, what the new trends are in the world, what can bring money and how we could all profit from it,” said President Cvijanović and added that new economic approaches must be completely innovative, which is why it is necessary to abandon some traditional thinking and have more flexibility with regard to domestic talents and creators.
The President of Srpska added that they should not be viewed in isolation, but that such an artist should be viewed within the whole of economic activity.
“We have to change our views, and not to look at culture, art, creativity in the broad sense just as something that spends money or asks for money from the institutions, without us being aware that such activities can return much more money than to those same institutions and society.” underlined President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic said that it is important to show that those are people, subjects, individuals in the function of development and that institutions should stand behind them.
President Cvijanović expressed her satisfaction that the Conference is being held at Jahorina because this Olympic beauty, as well as many other places in the Republic of Srpska, deserve full attention and respect for all that has been done there until the date, while those places were almost written off during some difficult times.
