Today in Trebinje, the President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović visited the works on the construction of the Day Care Centre for Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities.
The President of the Republic of Srpska stated that the project of building a Day Care Centre for Children with Developmental Disabilities in Trebinje is being implemented in accordance with expectations and plans, and that it is an example of good cooperation between national and local institutions and the Association of Parents of Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities.
“We show that when we are gathered around something and when we mobilise all good will and finances, which is important, we manage to do something”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of Srpska added that she was proud of the humanitarian campaign that was organised with the intention of raising funds for two such centres – in Trebinje and Banja Luka.
“We collected 1,200,000 BAM and distributed it in equal parts for these two centres”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic stated that after the completion of rough works and the beginning of equipping the ground floor, the second phase will begin, i.e. equipping the upper floor and procuring all the necessary equipment.
“Then we can say that we have completed this important project”, said the President Cvijanović, adding that institutions and various donors will again participate in the second phase.
“My message is that the Trebinje Association of Parents of Children and Youth with Common Developmental Disabilities “The Sun is Common to Us” and all other associations that defend the interests of their population can and should rely on institutions, but often need to initiate certain solutions”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic stated that the Day Centre will have a well-designed programme that will include everything that is necessary, depending on the difficulties children face and the time when they need to be trained for life.
“Encouragement to all this or better conditions will be given with this facility, which looks really good, which is designed to provide opportunities for all the contents that we will spend here”, said the President Cvijanović and announced that in twenty days the rough work on this facility will be completed and that after that work will be done on the completion of the ground floor, for which funds were provided in the first phase.
The President of the Republic of Srpska said that children with developmental disabilities will have various contents and programmes that will help them prepare for future life, and that someone who is professional and responsible will take care of them, so parents will be able to dedicate themselves to other activities.
The President Cvijanović pointed out that this should be a good example and a signpost for other associations that have certain problems to be solved in this way, systemically and together as partners.
“We will invest everything that is necessary for this centre to be entirely completed, and I am sure that it will soon be available with all the contents to parents and children who will stay here”, said the President of the Republic of Srpska.
The beginning of the construction of the Day Centre was made official in December last year, and 627,000 BAM for the first phase were provided in the humanitarian campaign “To Brave Hearts with Love”, which is traditionally held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Srpska.
