On the occasion of Vidovdan, the Patron Saint Day of the Republic of Srpska Army and September 15, the Day of the Fallen and Missing Persons in the Defensive-Patriotic War of the Republic of Srpska, the President of the Republic of Srpska presents decorations for posthumously decorated veterans of the Republic of Srpska Army and the municipality of Laktaši brigade of the Republic of Srpska Army
On the occasion of Vidovdan, the Patron Saint of the Army of the Republic of Srpska and September 15, the Day of the Fallen and Missing Persons in the Defensive-Patriotic War of the Republic of Srpska, the President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović presented 25 decorations, 23 of which are Medals of Merit, for posthumously decorated fighters of the Army of the Republic of Srpska from the area of the cities of Banja Luka and Gradiška and the municipality of Laktaši, as well as two brigades of the Army of the Republic of Srpska that were awarded the Petar Mrkonjić Medal.
The President of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that by this act, the institutions of the Republic of Srpska show the deepest respect for the heroes who gave an immeasurable contribution to the preservation of what is brightest – the Republic of Srpska, which must be preserved in the future.
“This is always a solemn but also a difficult act for all of us. In this way, the institutions of the Republic of Srpska, especially the President of the Republic, on the occasion of important events and holidays of the Republic of Srpska, award this type of decoration as a custom for years now”, said the President Cvijanović.
The President of the Republic pointed out that unfortunately, even today, 26 years after the heavy war suffering and experience, in a certain way there is a struggle for the Republic of Srpska, for its strength and the strength of its institutions so that such institutions can fulfill obligations to the citizens without disturbing and undermining anyone’s rights.
