A session of the Council for Cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and Republic of Serbia was held today at the Palace of the Republic, attended by the Republic of Srpska President Željka Cvijanović, Serb member and BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik, Republic of Srpska National Assembly Speaker Nedeljko Čubrilović, Republic of Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Višković, Republic of Serbia President Aleksandar Vučić, Republic of Serbia Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and Republic of Serbia National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dačić.

The President of the Republic of Srpska stated that the Republic of Srpska and Serbia are working diligently on the construction of the highway that will connect Banja Luka and Belgrade, the airport in Trebinje, and that the construction phase of the large energy project “Buk Bijela” has started.

The President Cvijanović pointed out that she was satisfied with what has been achieved so far through the cooperation between Srpska and Serbia, and expressed gratitude to Serbia for its political understanding, financial and any other support.

“All these projects imply better communication for our citizens, better business conditions, better energy safety and independence”, said the President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic of Srpska particularly expressed satisfaction of entering the phase related to the construction of the energy project “Buk Bijela”, which has been waited for several decades.

“The time has come for the Republic of Srpska and Serbia to implement that and in that way provide everything that is needed in the energy sphere for us and our environment, but also to reach the strength that will make us important in the energy sector”, said the President of the Republic.

The President of Srpska thanked for the support that Serbia gives to the municipalities in the Federation of BiH, with the majority Serb population, which are often left to themselves, without adequate treatment by the federal authorities.

“People who live there are looking at what Republic of Srpska and Serbia are doing, knowing that this support is an opportunity for them to survive in that area. It is also important that we have implemented all the projects that, thanks to Serbia, we had the opportunity to implement in our municipalities throughout Srpska”, it was pointed out by the President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic of Srpska said that she briefed guests from Serbia with the conditions in which BiH operates. “Our priority is a stable, developed and strong Republic of Srpska”, it was added by the President Cvijanović.

According to the President of the Republic, Srpska will not be captured by various topics, but it cannot be completely immune to all the challenges.

“Today, the Republic of Srpska lives and functions in an environment in which you get the ugliest words from someone who should be a partner and with whom you should think about joint development and construction, who show hatred, intolerance, inability to communicate and that deteriorates everything we try to do in the economic field, but also in the field of health”, it was added by the President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic of Srpska emphasized that Srpska needs stability, and that it is possible to achieve that by building it further.

“Everything we have never managed with anyone else, we have managed to do with Serbia. There is nothing wrong with our cooperation, only the good we want to bring to our citizens. Serbia is on the path of development and we want that path to be mapped out for our citizens as well”, it was stated by the President of Srpska.

The President of the Republic of Srpska thanked the institutions of Serbia for the fact that the citizens and institutions of Srpska feel safe because they have such a developed and strong Serbia which is moving forward.

In many difficult circumstances, added the President Cvijanović, it was the only hope and the only support for solving many problems.

“I am pleased since the Republic of Srpska and Serbia are showing the capacity to improve their cooperation in all areas. We are trying in every possible way to unite certain functions, so that we can work well for our citizens, and I am satisfied with what we have achieved so far”, said the President of the Republic.

The President of Srpska thanked Serbia for being at the disposal of the Republic of Srpska in all difficult times, including the support that came during the pandemic.
