New Year’s message from the President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović:
„Dear citizens of the Republic of Srpska,
At the time when we are saying goodbye to the old and welcoming the New Year 2021, we need to look at a few things that are important both for the Republic of Srpska and for us individually.
We are saying goodbye to a year that has been extremely difficult and challenging. We have encountered a problem that has fundamentally changed our lives and the functioning of the entire society.
The pandemic, as a global issue, has forced us, like everyone else, to redefine priorities and to focus primarily on attention and efforts to protect human lives and public health, as well as to preserve our economy.
But, as it usually happens, this crisis, in addition to bringing numerous difficulties, at the same time gave birth to the heroes of this age, our medical workers, of whom we, as a society, can be proud.
Unfortunately, at the very end, this year was marked by earthquakes that brought additional problems.
However, it should be said that even in such a difficult year and complex circumstances, the institutions of the Republic of Srpska and our citizens have shown that they are able to face these problems and that we are able to preserve the stability and functionality of the Republic, both on political and economic-financial plan.
The Government of the Republic of Srpska has directed huge funds to the health sector in order to fight as successfully as possible for the preservation of human lives.
Huge funds have also been set aside to support the economy in order to preserve the jobs of those employed in the private sector and ensure the safety of their families.
Although, due to the pandemic, the priorities have changed, we have not given up on important infrastructure and utility projects and we have continued to implement them throughout the Republic of Srpska.
This, in fact, implies that we have continued to move forward, perhaps not at the desired pace, but we have neither stopped nor given up on our goals.
Also, we are looking forward to the upcoming year, 2021, ready to fight the pandemic and other challenges, and to jointly build a better, more successful and more developed the Republic of Srpska.
That is why it is necessary to preserve the stability of institutions, because they are the only guarantee that we will provide security, economic development and the opportunity to be on our own.
It is necessary to preserve their ability to respond to the needs of our citizens.
In the time ahead, it is also important to preserve our unity, social cohesion and to pay additional attention to those among us who need help and support.
I believe in a better future and hope there is no obstacle we cannot overcome if we are united despite our different political opinions and the difficulties we encounter on our development path.
Dear citizens of the Republic of Srpska, in the coming year, I wish you good health, personal and family happiness, and success in your professional and any other field.
With the wish that the next year, 2021, will be the year in which we will successfully overcome the crisis caused by the pandemic, as well as all other challenges that lie in our way, I wish you a Happy New Year, Christmas holidays to all who celebrate, and the upcoming Day of the Republic, reads the congratulation message by the President of the Republic of Srpska.
Izgradili smo ili rekonstruisali bolnice, škole, vrtiće, studentske domove, vodovode, nove dionice autoputa i realizovali brojne druge projekte u oblasti saobraćajne i komunalne infrastrukture.
