The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik met today in Banja Luka with Dr. Efraim Zuroff, Director of the “Simon Wiesenthal Center” from Jerusalem.
The President of the Republic of Srpska emphasized that the Holocaust and the suffering of Jews in the Second World War is one of the darkest human and civilisational events that must never be forgotten, as well as the genocide committed against the Serb people during the 20th century.
The President of the Republic of Srpska said that cultivating a culture of remembrance of suffering is important for preserving national identity, stressing that it is of great importance that Dr. Zuroff held a lecture in Banja Luka.
The President Dodik pointed out that Dr. Zuroff is a sincere friend of the Serb people and thanked him for his dedicated work and great contribution to the understanding of historical facts.
During the meeting, the President of the Republic informed Dr. Efraim Zuroff that the Republic of Srpska and Serbia will build two memorial centres dedicated to the victims of Jasenovac in Donja Gradina and Belgrade.
Today’s meeting was also attended by the Minister for Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of the Republic of Srpska Željko Budimir.
