Meeting with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH

The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik met today in East Sarajevo with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH Igor Kalabuhov and discussed the current political situation in BiH.

The President Dodik briefed the Ambassador Kalabuhov on political issues important to the Republic of Srpska, and emphasized that Srpska cannot and will never accept the self-proclaimed High Representative Christian Schmidt, nor his imposition of any decisions, especially when it comes to stealing property from the Republic of Srpska.

The Ambassador of Russia reminded the principled position of the Russian Federation that Christian Schmidt cannot be considered a high representative without a corresponding resolution of the UN Security Council, and that he has no authority to carry out any activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Ambassador Kalabuhov reiterated that the Russian Federation advocates for the preservation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, with the domestic politicians dialogue based on mutual respect for the two entities and the three constituent peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The President of Srpska and the Ambassador Kalabuhov stated that the key to BiH’s success and future lies in the Dayton Peace Agreement, and that any interference from outside will only lead to unnecessary destabilisation.

The interlocutors emphasized their commitment to the development of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Srpska, with the aim of economic and any other prosperity to the mutual satisfaction.
