Contract signed on the construction of the Brčko-Bijeljina highway section 

The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik attended the signing of the contract on the construction of the Brčko-Bijeljina highway section today in Banja Luka.

The President of the Republic of Srpska stated that he is grateful to the consortium of Chinese companies for their willingness to cooperate with Srpska and that it is of great importance since the headquarters of the company will move to Banja Luka.

“Chinese partners are our good partners and that is why we will remain committed to cooperation with Chinese companies. The headquarters of their company for Europe will now be here in Banja Luka, and we will continue cooperation with this company”, said the President Dodik after the contract on the construction of a 17-kilometer highway section was signed with a total value of BAM 346 955 000.

The President of the Republic of Srpska said that the Chinese have no political requirements in cooperation and that the transfer of a Chinese company to the Republic of Srpska is of great importance.

The President of the Republic reiterated that the priority and intention of Srpska is to build a highway from Banja Luka to Bijeljina and Serbia.

“As you know, the construction of the bridge on Rača and the construction of the highway section from Rača to Bijeljina has been defined and is being built. This route, which we are just finishing, remains to be defined, defining all the business elements of our side. We will reach the Brčko District line from that side, and from there it was already agreed to build from Vukosavlje to the other side of Brčko”, said the President Dodik.

The President of the Republic said that the basic agreement is that Srpska builds a highway through Brčko District, but that this is still being negotiated due to certain demands of the Bosniak side.

“In this way, we have almost covered the entire route, bearing in mind that the route from Johovac to Vukosavlje has been tendered, the tender has been closed and contractors have been selected, but due to political and other procedures we are waiting for the final decision to be reached”, said the President Dodik.

The President of the Republic of Srpska added that this route would be defined as a whole and he expects that in the next four to five years we will have the highway route on these sections completed.

The President of the Republic reminded that the construction of the highway from Prijedor to Banja Luka has been agreed, and that discussions are being held with Chinese partners to define the construction of the expressway from Trebinje to Foča and Višegrad.
