Congratulations on the occasion of May 9 – Victory over Fascism Day

The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik congratulated all citizens of the Republic of Srpska on May 9, the Day of Victory over Fascism, emphasizing that it is one of the most significant dates in the history of mankind and a symbol of courage and nonconformity of the Serb people who has always been on the right side of history.

“On May 9, 1945, the greatest war conflict in the history of mankind ended with the glorious victory of the allied forces against the fascist forces, and the foundation was laid for the creation of a better, more humane and more just world.

The proud and brave Serb people was part of the victorious anti-fascist struggle together with the European, Russian and American allies and the frontrunner of the anti-fascist struggle in the former Yugoslavia.

It is our duty to never forget them and to remember them with special piety, because they are brave Serbs who did not regret their lives in the fight against the greatest evil – fascism.

Today, the Republic of Srpska proudly cherishes the achievements of the anti-fascist struggle and remains permanently committed to the values of the decisive struggle for freedom and equality.

In the struggle for freedom and survival, the Serb people made enormous sacrifices in the First and Second World War, as well as in the last Patriotic War, which obliges us to nurture the culture of remembrance of our glorious history.

The task of all of us, the descendants of those who were always on the right side of history, is to continue on their path, to nurture true values, to always be part of a better and fairer part of the world and to convey the truth about liberation struggles to our future generations.

Today, unfortunately, we are faced with attempts of various go-betweens, both local and foreign, to relativize crimes and equate victims and criminals.

The Serb people must never allow this to happen, but must confront those vampired ideas of lies, hatred and intolerance with the truth.
