Vice President of the Republic of Srpska
Ćamil Duraković was born on January 18, 1979 in Srebrenica village of Luka.
From 1996 to 2005, he lived in the United States, where he graduated from Manchester Central High School and completed his master’s degree in judicial administration and counseling psychology at New Hampshire University.
In 2018, he received his master’s degree in the field of social policy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Tuzla.
He returned to Srebrenica in 2005, when he began his professional and socio-political involvement in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
From 2008 to 2012, he managed the Centre for providing services to the citizens in the Municipality of Srebrenica, and was an Advisor to the Mayor for international relations, Deputy and acting Mayor of Srebrenica.
As an independent candidate, with the support of all pro-Bosnian parties, he was elected Mayor of Srebrenica in 2012.
At the Local Elections in 2020, he was elected as a member of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly. From April to September 2021, he served as the Speaker of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly.
As an independent candidate without the support of any party in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the General Elections in 2022, he was elected the Vice President of the Republic of Srpska.
As the Mayor of the Municipality of Srebrenica, he was declared CD personality of the year by Face TV (Sarajevo), personality of the year according the Nezavisne novine (Banja Luka), and for multi-ethnic dialogue he was awarded the seal of Večernjak (Mostar).
He is the author of the book “Srebrenica – a forgotten promise”.
