The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik attended today the commemoration of 81 years since the suffering of Serbs in Drakulić, Šargovac, Motike and the Rakovac mine.
“In one day, more than 2,000 people were killed without a single shot being fired. Among them, there were 551 children from elementary school, and we need to raise this marking to a higher level”, said the President Dodik.
The President of the Republic stated that on that day the Serbs were chained by snow and surrounded by the Ustasha, they had no chance to survive, because the Ustasha had no mercy and killed each Serb, regardless of whether he was a child, a woman, an old man.
“We gather every year not only to recall but also to remember this crime, which is one of the most monstrous, just as it was for the Serbs and the NDH, which had only one goal – to kill, cross or displace the Serbs”, said the President Dodik.
The President of the Republic noted that there are never enough contents and commemoration to honor the victims.
The President of Srpska recalled that the communist regime did not allow the anniversary of the suffering of the Serbs to be marked, but that the descendants built a monument where they gather today in a vow to protect the Serb people and the Republic of Srpska.
The President Dodik said that Republic of Srpska is not an accident, but a historical covenant of the Serb people and a free state that absolutely must survive, because it is the only honorable response to the suffering of Serbs that happened 81 years ago in the Banja Luka settlement of Drakulić and the surrounding villages.
“For no moment, we who lead the Republic of Srpska, and those who come after us, must no longer allow the delusion to be sown to the Serb people that they can live in society based on the principles of brotherhood and unity. In that society, those who committed crimes were only preparing to do it again, and that was in the 1990s”, it was emphasized by the President of the Republic.
The President of the Republic of Srpska added that he cannot forgive this terrible crime, because he is convinced that there are those who, if given the opportunity, would repeat the crime of February 1942.
“This cannot be forgiven, but it does not mean that we take a gun and kill, but it means that we must not allow this to happen to us again”, said the President Dodik.
The President of the Republic reiterated that this is why the freedom of the Serb people and the Republic of Srpska is important.
“That is why, every time we come here, we have to make a new vow to the Republic of Srpska. It is belated justice for those victims, belated because it should have existed here a long time ago as a reflection of the freedom of the Serb people”, said the President of Srpska.
“We do not touch anyone, we do not believe in BiH, which was created to take over the Republic of Srpska step by step and make it meaningless. That is why our fight today is exclusively a fight for those values of the Republic”, said the President Dodik.
The President of the Republic noted that throughout the centuries, the Serb people, motivated by freedom, raised revolts against various occupiers and defended each of their freedoms with blood, which is why the word freedom is historically the most important word of the Serb people.
“We must not bow down in front of those who gave their lives for our freedom”, said the President of the Republic of Srpska.
