The President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović visited the National Theatre of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka today.
The President of the Republic of Srpska said that it is of utmost importance for culture that the National Theatre of the Republic of Srpska is preparing the play “Death and the Dervish”, emphasizing that without development of culture there can be no strong society.
“This is a major acting endeavor of the National Theatre of the Republic of Srpska. I recognise the need for institutions to support such a project that is very demanding and significant for the Republic of Srpska”, said the President Cvijanović after she visited the National Theatre of the Republic of Srpska and attended a rehearsal of the play “Death and the Dervish”.
The President of the Republic highlighted that if we do not contribute to the importance of culture development there can be no strong nations and states and added that artistic freedom must be guaranteed.
“When I was a Prime Minister, I understood that it was necessary to increase the amount of funding for the culture and that cultural institutions must be given the space to work adequately. Considering the 90 anniversary of the National Theatre, I invite the republican institutions to contribute to the celebration of this great jubilee“, it was stated by the President of the Republic.
